I had a not so great race day, but had an unbelievable weekend. This series is awesome. A big shout out to anyone that has ever done anything to put this on, from the countless hours of shovel work to the U-Haul drivers and everything in between and above, this is a top notch event. Also congrats to both the guys pushing 50ft on the finish table!
With trying to make things lighter and lighter it would be cool to see what didn't make the cut, in other words when you cut 5 more grams of the bridge of the stem, it will snap! Also to see things like what amount of failures are acceptable outliers?
Outlaws are legit, they hold up nicely, at least the ones from 5 years ago, I can only imagine that they have gotten better. Great pricepoint and overall wheel for those that like to go down.
It would be nice if Specialized and Crank brothers got together and married their designs. A 3 position collet system like the command post, with the location of the mechanism on the Kronolog and you have a clear winner.
Infinite adjustment and mechanical just don't go together for reliability, there is going to be wear, sounds like Crank Brothers is relying on a concept and not reality. You have to design these things for people that do not keep the cable tension perfect, not everyone is a mechanic.
With weather this great, I have to figure out how to weasel out of work and get out there Friday!
I am wondering if payout should be based on field. Lets say there are 200 spots, if 200 pro's show up to compete then the purse is $5000, if 100 pros show up then the purse is $2500. At least something along those lines so that the purse matches the amount of competition. I realize there could end up being quantity over quality, but as a sofa racer, seems like a good way to do it.
You can have it, just like moto's you can revalve mtb stuff too, just have to know what you want out of the susspension, PUSH and ELKA are probably the best known for custom valving, it's out there, but just like Moto it can be more expensive than it is worth for the average rider.
